Block Party June 2016

CVHOA 1st Annual Block Party 2016

Success, fun, hot, laughter, food, music, snow cones, neighbors….the list can go on! Each word used describes the absolute wonderful time that was had by those that attended the CVHOA first annual block party.

The BOD wants to send a huge shout out to the Block Party Committee, who worked endless hours planning, setting up, refilling coolers, making snow balls, socializing, and so on. Your 2016 committee was: Donna McNulty Schlatter, Debbie Moore, Patricia Mounicou, Patricia Petty, Alisha Bergin, and Amanda Umfress. The husbands behind the scenes were the heavy lifters and we could not have done it without you guys!!!

Second, Thank you to the neighborhood for coming together to enjoy the day. From helping set up, cleaning up, monitoring the slide, bringing food, etc, you were the most instrumental denominator of yesterday. We could host a dozen events but if you didn’t come success could not have been achieved.

Thank you to Kroger, who donated $100 dollars toward food, t-shirts, and hats. The store manager (John Rodriquez) stopped by to mingle with the neighbors.

Thanks a bunch to Waste Pro for donating the trash bin!!!

And a shout out to the band ,Side Street Steppers for a fun filled music afternoon.

Thank you to the city representatives Pat Hamilton and police officers who attended. You are much appreciated.

A special Thank You to Sonny and Pat for providing countless snow balls. Each snow ball was prepared by hand. The syrups were hand made! They were delicious!

Thank you Patrick and Kim Gregory Ball. You were awesome to allow us to use your yard and electricity! Thank you Kelly Shannon Roberts for donating tons of chairs, coolers, and tables! Thank you Mr. Dave Henderson for running our many errands throughout the morning and supplying the generator. Thank you to the Herring’s for donating a tent. Thank you to Jeff Umfress for supplying the electricity and water for the big Kahuna (sorry for the mud hole). If we missed anyone else please know we appreciate you!!

Thank you to all involved in the 1st Block Party! The countdown begins to the 2nd Annual Block Party now!!!

Easter Egg Hunt 2016

The kids, as well as the adults, all had a great time at the third annual CVHOA Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny attended the event and posed for photographs. There were games for the various age groups: pin the tail on the bunny, guess the number of jelly beans in the jar, etc.  In addition there was a bouncy house.  Not only did the game winners from the various age groups win prizes, but all participants were awarded smaller prizes in addition to the eggs collected on the hunt. There were wonderful refreshments and goodies to eat.  Thank you to everyone behind the scenes (donating items, stuffing eggs/cleanup, and more) who made the CVHOA 2016 Easter Egg Hunt a success.  And a special thanks to all of the homeowners who braved the less than attractive weather.  You Rock!!!!!

Cookies with Santa 2015

The Cookies with Santa was a a fun filled event for the children of Cherokee Valley. They visited with Santa and munched on cookies & candy canes. Special thanks to Sonny & Pat Mounicou for hosting the event, and to Erma Ashley the ventriloquist for entertaining the children.  Thank you to everyone who donated all of the sweet treats for the children.  Phillip Steward also deserves a special thanks for contacting Santa to ensure his timely arrival.

Fall Festival 2015

The first annual Cherokee Valley HOA Fall Festival, held at our own family recreational area – Beaver Lake, was a fantastic event!  Approximately 80 residents came together to laugh, play games (winning numerous prizes), fish and enjoy the wonderful weather.  Attendees enjoyed sweet desserts, popcorn, and snowballs.  The kids also enjoyed a bouncy house, a make your own cupcake station, and a cakewalk.  The HOA thanks all of the individuals who worked numerous hours behind the scenes with the preparation, set up, and clean up and also all who donated baked goods.  Special thanks to Pat Mounicou who chaired the event.

EASTER EGG HUNT 2014

The second annual Cherokee Valley HOA Easter Egg Hunt, that was held on Saturday April 12th at the newly enhanced CVHOA Beaver Lake and activity area, was a huge success. This year the weather conditions were perfect with sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. The kids, as well as the adults, all had a great time. The Easter Bunny attended the event and posed for photographs. There were games for the various age groups: pin the tail on the bunny, spoon/egg races, guess the number of jelly beans in the jar, etc. Not only did the game winners from the various age groups win prizes, but all participants were awarded smaller prizes in addition to the eggs collected on the hunt. There were wonderful refreshments and goodies to eat. Special thanks go to John & Debbie Moore & Sonny & Pat Mounicou for their contributions and involvement in the event.

Membership Meeting APRIL 2013

OBPD Sgt. Lawrence Swindall, who is in charge of the OBPD Community Relations Division, did a fantastic job presenting information about Neighborhood Crime Watch. Neighborhood Crime Watch signs will soon be erected throughout the neighborhood. A successful program requires resident participation and we are seeking residents who are willing to act as “block captains”. If you are interested in community safety, please call Sonny Mounicou (504) 874-5716. In the fall, we have plans to participate in the nation-wide night-out against crime event.

EASTER EGG HUNT 2013

In spite of the horrific weather conditions, the first annual Cherokee Valley HOA Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success. Unfortunately, weather conditions (heavy rain and 25mph winds) prohibited conducting the event outdoors at Beaver Lake as scheduled, so the event was moved indoors. John and Debbie Moore were gracious enough to allow the use of their home for the event. Special thanks go to Sonny & Pat Mounicou, John & Debbie Moore, Debby Hrusa, and Susan Taylor for their contributions and involvement in the event.
